More Music and Links          Stick to Picking!

In my many years of playing music, I have come across innumerable things that have expanded my musical horizons.  This page will offer you some links to some music that I currently like as well as some projects that I have been involved with.
From time to time there will be other surprises you can either watch, listen to or check out on some website.

Stay tuned.

Home Sweet Home. I always
loved Earl Scruggs' version of this
beloved song. This is my tribute
to him. I played banjo, fiddle, guitar, bass,
and mandolin.

Johnny Lukers March. John Luker
was my grandfather, born in Tennessee.
I wrote this tune on Irish Tenor Banjo
in honor of him.  He played the
mandolin when he was alive.

Irish set: Drowsy Maggie, Cooley's Reel,
The Wise Maid.  Great violinist,
Ingrid Peters on fiddle, me on
everything else.

King of the Fairies.  I was trying out
different music on the tenor banjo and
thought this might make an interesting
selection. One of the first tunes I did.

Sally Goodin'.  This venerable old tune
is frequently played with just banjo
and fiddle...so that's what I did....not
at the same time of course.  Me on both.

Radio Spot:  Pro City Mortgage.
I do studio recording work as well as teach.
I played guitar, octave mandolin
and mandolin on this track.  If you
listen to the radio in Sacramento you
have probably heard this.

Within You Without You.  Written
by George Harrison.  I had an idea to
bow the 5-string banjo and this is what
that idea grew into.  I played every
instrument except tablas/percussion.

Going UP Dry Branch.  This tune
came off an old Jimmy Martin album.
I loved J.D. Crowe's banjo break and
tried to play it a bit like him.  All
instruments by me.  Drums by computer.

Ships Are Sailing:  A sprightly Irish reel
that works well for the tenor banjo.
I learned this one from my good friend
Kathy Barwick of Nine Eighths Irish.

In My Life:  I've always liked this song, not only for the lovely melody but the lyrics say a lot about the human experience.  I recorded this on John Lennon's birthday....by coincidence.  I came up with the mandolin part by necessity.
